Great start in “What’s Your Big Idea?”

So today was my first mentoring meeting with my team in Doncaster College’s “What’s Your Big Idea?” Challenge.  Much credit should go also to my co-mentor Anwar Choudhry, but of course most is down to the team we are mentoring.

We discussed a range of topics, including extensively about what initial services should look like and what is doable in the early months of trading.  With the emphasis on getting a small service right and not trying to do too much too soon.

There were also good conversations about identifying the costs of the service, Health and Safety in a food making business and the most effective ways to advertise.

We spoke about the importance of great communication, with the need for the team to fully understand their respective roles and a desire to keep the team and the mentors fully informed of progress throughout the challenge.

Plenty for a new team to digest over the coming weeks.  Well done team – great start!
